One-click real-time native live streaming is now available in Crowdpurr. Add a real-time stream to participant devices directly from the Experience Dashboard in one-click. No more lag, no more embedding YouTube Live or Twitch. No more forcing participants to use Zoom and Crowdpurr. Just click and go! Become the live host of your own weekly trivia show!

We have several other new features to discuss in our August 2022 product update. We have new on-demand video, a new weekly live streaming show, and more! Let's get into it.

New Feature: One-Click Real-Time Native Streaming 🎥

Way back in November 2020, we added the ability to embed YouTube Live and Twitch streams into your experiences, to achieve live streaming. This... didn't work out so well. 🤦♂️ Due to a variety of issues like new YouTube accounts not allowing stream embedding, unmanageable stream latency, and an overly complex setup, embedding YouTube Live and Twitch wasn't much of a hit.

The community asked for a real-time, simple, native solution... and today that solution is here! Ladies and gentlemen, we present Crowdpurr Streaming.

Dashboard Streaming

With any webcam you can now live host your trivia games directly from the Experience Dashboard in one-click. No setup, no configuration, just click and go! Crowdpurr instantly starts streaming your webcam to your participant devices.

Crowdpurr's Experience Dashboard is shown with a live stream of a host. A participant mobile phone is shown with the same live stream host.

Sub-Second Latency

New Crowdpurr Streaming is super fast!

Ever struggled with stream latency in the past? Not any more! Live host your experiences with sub-second latency using WebRTC technology. The same technology used in real-time teleconferencing apps like Zoom and Webex. With Crowdpurr's new native streaming, you can narrate your trivia game in real-time! No more waiting for the stream to catch up. Trigger the correct answer and go to the next question instantly. This truly opens a new world of applications that can be achieved with Crowdpurr. Build your own weekly HQ trivia show anyone? We did (more on that below).

To learn more about one-click real-time streaming right from the Experience Dashboard, check out the Help Center article Add a Live Stream to Crowdpurr.

Don't Stop There... Connect OBS Too!

Want a more advanced live stream content experience for your participants? We've enabled OBS support for Crowdpurr Streaming. Connect the free Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) app to unlock limitless possibilities for content. With OBS, you can trigger different videos, transitions, add layers and images, add multiple live cameras, and design a professional live stream experience that is entirely your own.

Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) Studio is open with a scene showing a female host. The same scene is shown on a phone showing Crowdpurr's mobile view in a live stream.
Add video, images, transitions, and multiple camera inputs with OBS.

Connecting OBS is a feature of the Conference Plan and above. To learn more check out the Help Center article Connect OBS to Crowdpurr Streaming.

Live Stream Recording

A Crowdpurr application window with the title "Live Stream Recordings" displays a list of live stream recordings.
Live streams are automatically recorded on the Convention Plan.

Want to save and review your live streams in Crowdpurr? With the Convention Plan and above, all Crowdpurr live streams are automatically recorded and saved. You can download and view them at any time.

To learn more about live stream recording, check out the Help Center article Recording Live Streams in Crowdpurr.

New Fullscreen Layout Option

When adding a live stream, you have a choice of layout options to enhance your experiences.  In addition to the previous Full Width and Vertical Card stream layouts, we added a Full Screen option.

The Full Screen option allows your live stream to demand "full attention" from your participants. Then minimize it when it's time for participants to interact.

Three mobile phones are shown with a Crowdpurr live stream of a female host in three different layouts - a wide screen, a vertical crop card, and a full screen layout.

New Feature: On-Demand Video 🎥

We've taken the previous streaming functionality of embedding YouTube Live and Twitch Streams and added the ability to include any YouTube video (not just Live streams) or Twitch video, and dynamically display them on participant videos at any time!

This allows you to "fire" video content at any time in your experience. You can even intermix them with your own live streams to create a dynamic sequence of video content. Add intro videos, videos to supplement questions, videos to display during breaks or between rounds, or end-of-event videos. Any video on YouTube or Twitch that allows embedding can be added and played on-demand! To learn more about On-Demand Video, check out the Help Center article Add On-Demand YouTube and Twitch Videos.

A Crowdpurr application window has the title "On-Demand Video" with a YouTube video of Neil deGrasse added. And a mobile phone showing the same YouTube video live streaming.
Add YouTube and Twitch videos and play them on-demand on participant devices
